Records are of great importance in our life especially involving civil registration. It can greatly affect our plans, dreams and relationships. Adhering to civil registry laws does not require too much effort, but to many citizens who are remiss and unmindful of their obligations, it becomes a big obstacle later in life.
Since many problems are being encountered in relation to civil registration, the Philippine Statistics Authority formerly National Statistics Office continuously institute reforms to improve the civil registration system in the country. The latest innovation is PHILCRIS or Philippine Civil Registry Information System which is now being used nationwide and is touted as more efficient and user friendly. It replaces the CRIS version which was scrapped in favor of the new one with the intention of providing LGUs with enhanced capability to serve their constituents better.
Features of PHILCRIS includes the following: enables encoding of relevant information from civil registry documents which is capable of storing remarks or annotations for CDLI documents; automatically codes statistical items at the bottom of the new forms while entering data items; printing and issuance of certified copies of encoded civil registry documents-allows print preview and printing directly to the new civil registry information; query and retrieval of encoded records, generation of transmittal files, data management and maintenance of local civil registry database and simplified back-up and restore procedures; and supports entry for attachments such as for muslims and IPS.
Since its full implementation, LCR Lingayen encountered less difficulty in its daily operation and have been receiving favorable feedbacks as to its improved services. Indeed, computerization of records makes work easier and faster! Thanks to the initiative of the current Local Civil Registrar, former Councilor Joan Jude R. Lopez who pushed for it. Aside from that he also facilitated the purchase of a scanner which has the ability to scan extralong documents which the office now uses for the ongoing scanning of old civil registry documents such as birth, marriage and death certificates for easy access and immediate issuance of documents. Our clients need not wait long for their desired documents anymore.
A million thanks also to our good Mayor, Hon. Josefina V Castaneda who refurbished our office. Files are now kept in spacious filing cabinets and the office look pristine, comfortable and modern. It boosted our morale to work harder and inspired us to deliver client satisfaction at all times. With this, we are always ready and happy to serve our beloved Kabaleyans!
