For the past 7 years or so, SB Lingayen has been home to a pretty young lady whose passion for public service is inherent in her. It runs in the blood. It is embedded in her genes. This uncompromising and upright Councilor who in more ways than one is often found on the other side of the fence in the political arena is the granddaughter of the late SP Member Romualdo “Romy” De Leon, a political icon during his time. The daughter of the Juris Magna De Leon, the brains behind the legendary Rural Bank of Anda, the only non-commercial Bank with branches in the most strategic areas around the Province, this lady is definitely someone to reckon with.

Critics, especially those who don’t know her thins she is noisy and nosy and a chatterbox. To those who are familiar with her and understand the real person she is, this lady Councilor is noisy at the SB because she will never keep still and stay quiet when things seem wrong and will find her way to make them right. She is nosy for the most sensible reasons and is a chatterbox under the most veracious circumstances.

Being in politics for the most part of her young life, she has not given much thought to having a man who will somehow add color and excitement to her life. At 28, she could be engaged or could be starting a family of her own but she decided to live her life in a field not many ladies her age will ever dream of or hope for. She may exude an aura so strong which definitely is not for faint hearted men. She is an independent, hard-working and determined young woman, the traits which have catapulted her to fame among the Lingayen electorate, hence making her their Number One Councilor in the recently concluded national and local synchronized elections.

Her political experiences have not all been good. Nothing is always good in this world anyway. She tried her luck for the Pangasinan Councilors’ League Presidency but lost to Councilor Perez of San Manuel. But she is never a sour loser. She regained her resolve in no time realizing that we can never have everything in this world.

JUDY “JUDAY” DE LEON VARGAS, Number One Councilor of Lingayen may be feisty yet deep inside that façade is a gentle lady who never waivers in her firmness as she stands her ground fighting for what she believes in, even when others fail.
