LGU LINGAYEN COLLABORATES WITH CICC AND DICT IN ANTI-CYBERCRIME UPSKILLING INITIATIVE

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Lingayen and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) conducted the Anti Cybercrime Upskilling Initiative for Community (Project ACUITY) on July 10, 2024 at Lingayen Civic Center.

Project ACUITY is an initiative under the Bridging Research and Innovation for the Community’s Development through Goal-oriented Extension Projects (BRIDGE).

This aims to increase awareness in the community on anti-cybercrime and in safeguarding personal data, ensuring national security, preserving intellectual property among others.

Mayor Leopoldo N Bataoil, president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Pangasinan Chapter warmly welcomes the team from CICC. He personally shares his experiences as a public figure, an as a victim of various cyber scheming and even identity theft.

“There is threat, a real threat on the possible pollution of the cyber, of people with various intentions. You are vulnerable, in like manner that I am also vulnerable”, the Mayor said.

Also present in the program were Vice Mayor Mac Dexter Malicdem and SK Federation President Carissa Joyce Tuazon, who also gave their messages for all the participants including officials in the barangays, municipal personnel, men in uniform and others.

Resource speakers from the CICC were Mr. Christian Salazar, Ms. Lynmir Divina and Makhalim Cruz on topics such as Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, Safe Space Act, Anti-OSAEC and CSAEM Act, Data Privacy Act and Digital Forensic Manual. (MIO)
