LGU LINGAYEN LEADS CLEAN-UP DRIVE FOR INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP AND TOURISM MONTH

The Local Government Unit of Lingayen, under the leadership of Mayor Josefina V. Castañeda, together with the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor JM Crisostomo, spearheaded a Coastal Clean-Up Drive at the Lingayen Baywalk on September 26, 2026, in celebration of the International Coastal Clean-Up and Tourism Month this September.

The activity brought together various municipal offices, organizations, schools, and tourism stakeholders in a collective effort to protect Lingayen’s coastal environment and promote responsible and sustainable tourism.

Among those who participated were the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Local Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (LTCAO), Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), Young Environmental Advocates of Lingayen (YEAL), Pangasinan School of Arts and Trades (PSAT), Philippine Guardians, Lingayen Police Station, and members of the Pangasinan Fishery Allied Workers, Fishermen, Environmentalists, Livestock Raisers, Urban & Coconut Farmers Association.

The Lingayen Tourism Enterprises and Tourism Stakeholders Governing Organization (LETSGO) also joined the initiative, highlighting the important role of tourism enterprises and stakeholders in maintaining a clean, safe, and sustainable destination.

Beyond removing waste from the shoreline, the coastal clean-up served as a reminder that tourism and environmental protection go hand in hand. A clean and healthy coastline benefits local communities and marine ecosystems while helping strengthen Lingayen’s potential as a sustainable tourism destination.

The LGU Lingayen continues to encourage government offices, communities, organizations, businesses, and visitors to take part in protecting the municipality’s natural resources and keeping its coastline clean for generations to come.
