LINGAYEN CELEBRATES 80th ARAW NG KAGITINGAN
Police officers, government employees, other national agencies and some Lingayenenses gathered at the Lingayen Rizal Park to commemorate and honor the 80th Day of Valor or “Araw ng Kagitingan” on Aprill 9, 2022.
The local government unit of Lingayen and Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) jointly celebrated the commemoration with a simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony. The event was mainly to remember the fallen heroes of World War II and the tragedy of the Bataan Death March.
In particular, Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil emphasized that “the war is not yet over.” Filipinos will continue to face different challenges, thus, the need for continuing preservation in our country, he said.
Besides, Bataoil also said heroism could also be seen through his advocacy—focusing on how to uplift the living standard of ordinary citizens.
“A little tap on the shoulder will mean a lot in the life of that ordinary person, ordinary Filipino, ordinary family,” he said.
Similarly, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office Director Richmond Tadina in his message conveyed by his representative LtCol. Fidel Junio said, “Everyone has a hero within. Doing good to others makes us a hero already.”
“Araw ng Kagitingan is not only a celebration for the late heroes of our country. It is also a celebration to give thanks to our front liners. They were our heroes during the pandemic,” he added.
Tadina further mentioned that the event was also to applaud the extensive hard work of the Philippine National Police in maintaining order and preparations for the possible escalations of election-related violence in the province. (MIO)
