MAYOR’S PROFILE

Hon. Leopoldo N. Bataoil
HON. LEOPOLDO N. BATAOIL, a man who has been serving God, his country, and the people for the better part of his life- 33 years in the noble profession of arms, the military and police service; and nine years and counting as a public servant in the field of politics.
Better known as Lingkod ng Bayan among his constituents, this retired three-star Police General untiringly and always has his heart and mind with public service.
At the outset, he was a military man. He is a proud member of PMA Magilas Class of 1976, who was sent to the frontline against lawless elements in the most critical and dangerous parts of the country.
Thereafter, he served his own province of Pangasinan as PNP Provincial Director and later as Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 1, where he again led his men with honor and pride for being “citizen-friendly and protectors of human rights.”
From one assignment to the next, he became the Regional Director of National Capital Regional Police Office then later as the Director of Integrated Police Office for Northern Luzon covering Regions 1, 2, 3 and Cordillera.
He retired from the uniform service in 2009, as the Director of the branch closest to his heart, the Police Community Relations office.
Realizing that service to the people is his calling, he then entered the political realm and he was overwhelmingly welcomed, as he was elected as Congressman of the second district of Pangasinan for three consecutive terms in 2010, 2013, and 2016.
His tenure as a Congressman was marked by formidable achievements, enabled by his perfect attendance in all sessions of the House alongside his active presence in his jurisdiction.
Today, having been driven by his desire to give back to his hometown, the former solon has boarded on to his next public service project- which is about accelerating the development in the capital town of Pangasinan. He now serves as the local chief executive of Lingayen, Pangasinan. His having been elected as the new Mayor made history not only in his life, but also in the town, for after 27 years, Lingayen town welcomed a new leader.
After elected as Mayor of Lingayen, he was also elected as the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Pangasinan Chapter President and appointed as the national spokesperson of the LMP.
He is a living proof that service to the people knows no end. For as long as one is propelled by the genuine concern for the people, the will to serve the country, and the desire to have a better world, no number of years can limit such dedication. A God-loving servant leader, willing to risk his life so that others may live; a retired police General, a former legislator, and Lingayen’s prime Lingkod Ng Bayan—Mayor Leopoldo Nalupa Bataoil.
