For two consecutive years, Lingayen Municipal Accountant Nelson S. Gumapos is once again a recipient of the 2024 PhALGA Excellence Award given by the Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants, Inc. (PhALGA), on May 15, 2024 at the CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center during the 19th Annual National Conference.

The award was given by the national association of provincial, city and municipal accountants during the 3-day Conference in Baguio City with the theme: “Empowering Fiscal Resilience: Innovations in Local Government Accounting.”

PhALGA President Smith O. Valdez said that one of the highlights of this conference is the PhALGA Excellence Award for Local Government Units (LGU) with Unmodifed/Unqualified Audit Opinion based on the 2022 COA Annual Audit Report. “This award demonstrates your LGU’s exemplary financial stewardship and unwavering commitment to transparency and fiscal accountability”, she added.

This means that the LGU complied with all the statutory accounting and auditing rules and regulations on true and fair reflection of our financial condition, position, and operations. Financial reports are submitted on time; and properties are fully accounted and undergo regular physical inventory.

LGU Lingayen headed by Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil is very proud and honored by the success of the whole Accounting Office with the support of the Local Finance Committee and all the hardworking employees of the municipality in the continuous promotion of good governance, transparency and accountability.

The Municipal Accountant was accompanied by Mayor Bataoil, Vice-Mayor Mac Dexter G. Malicdem and Municipal Administrator Roberto DG. Sylim to personally accept the award during the said awarding ceremony. (MIO)
