TURNOVER OF THE 1st MODULAR MATERIAL RECOVERY FACILITY PROJECT OF THE LOCAL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

In a major move to strengthen the community’s solid waste management and promote environmental sustainability, the Lingayen Local Government Unit (LGU), through the Local Youth Development Office, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the Young Environmental Advocates of Lingayen, formally turned over the Modular Material Recovery Facility (MMRF) to Pangasinan National High School – Supreme Student Learner Government.

The Modular Material Recovery Facility (MMRF) is an environmental initiative designed to promote proper solid waste reduction, recycling, and waste segregation within the school campus. The facility provides a systematic process for collecting, sorting, and temporarily storing recyclable and biodegradable materials before they are processed or transported for recycling. In line with Republic Act 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, this initiative supports the government’s solid waste management program and encourages institutions to adopt environmentally responsible practices.

The project also supports the Pillar of Environment, one of the key centers of youth participation, encouraging young people to take part in implementing youth-friendly programs and policies on environmental protection, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM). Through these efforts, the program promotes biodiversity conservation, proper waste management, and pollution control.

The turnover ceremony was attended by LYDO John Mark Mangapot; SK Federation President and LYDC Chairperson Engr. Alberto Zipagan; PNHS Department Heads; SSLG Former President John Lloyd Palma; Ms. Lingayen 2026 – Environment Ms. Jenny Peralta; and YVFL/YEAL representative JC Pascual.
